Three international documents adopted at Astana religious leaders’ meeting

Astana: Participants of the 24th meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions adopted three international documents.

The documents are the “Code of Ethics for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Religious Sphere,” the “Role of Religions in Combating Climate Change” document and the Charter of the Rights of a Terminally Ill Child.

The development of the first two documents was initiated by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and supported by its participants.

The Charter establishes the priority of protecting the dignity of a terminally ill child, treating the child humanely and ensuring their right to necessary medical and psychological assistance.

he document also provides for support taking into account the child’s religious and worldview needs upon request.

The “Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions”—Kazakhstan’s leading international platform for interfaith and intercultural dialogue—has opened. Launched in Astana in 2003, the Congress brings togetherNot only this, representatives of 6 international organizations, government officials and experts from 20 countries participated in XXIV Meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions at The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation presided by Yerlan Tynymbaiuly Karin, Vice President of Kazakhstan and Chair of the Secretariat.

The platform includes representatives from Islam (Sunni and Shia), Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Shintoism, Zoroastrianism, the Baha’i Faith, and Jainism.

It serves as a forum for dialogue and practical cooperation; it does not seek to merge doctrines or adjudicate theological disputes.
