TDV: Speaking to the senior adviser said Pakistan has already condemned the attack on Iran and assured Tehran of all possible cooperation.
“Pakistan’s policy is not to become part of any war, but we will take every step necessary for the defence of the country,” he said.
Sanaullah noted that Pakistan maintains a defence agreement with Saudi Arabia and would honour the pact if the situation demands.
“At the same time, our fundamental position remains that Pakistan does not want to become part of any conflict,” he added.
The adviser said Islamabad is in contact with several countries, including Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United States, amid escalating tensions in the region.
He warned that any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz would create serious challenges for the global economy. Pakistan, he said, has already begun working on alternative routes to manage potential disruptions.
“The current situation is extremely worrying, and the issues should be resolved as soon as possible,” he said.
Sanaullah also stressed Pakistan’s desire to reduce misunderstandings among Muslim countries and called for an end to the conflict.
“We wish well for Iran and hope the war comes to an end,” he said, adding that political dialogue within Pakistan remains essential to address national challenges.
